Staff from ROE #30 attended the Illinois Coalition for Educating At-Risk Youth (ICEARY) Conference last week in Bloomington. With break out sessions on topics like human trafficking, team building, self-care, compassion fatigue, and much more, the team received a great deal of information to help us work with at risk-youth in our region.

After the course, you'll be able to recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges and substance abuse challenges; understand how to interact with a youth in crisis; know how to connect a young person with help; and better understand trauma, substance abuse, self-care, and the impact of social media and bullying. The Illinois Reading Council Conference will be held on March 13th and 14th in Springfield. Many authors and presenters are scheduled to share innovative strategies and enhanced content. This conference includes a welcome reception, two days of engaging content, and ample time for networking with others who share a love of reading. The Regional Office of Education #30 is seeking applicants for a Part-time Custodian that will be based at the Murphysboro office and school site. This position will be needed during the day and each day that school is in session during the academic year. Qualifications include the following: - High school diploma/equivalency. - Physical condition necessary for lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, walking, standing and sitting. - Ability to review written documentation and assure proper and complete cleaning. - Ability to work independently with minimal direction. - Valid IL Driver’s License required. - Experience in building and maintenance preferred. Compensation will be based on experience with a minimum of $15/hour.
